when we open the door the interior light doesn't come on. the bulb is working when it is set in the 'reading lamp' position so we know its not the fuse or the bulb. we can't find a door switch to see if thats the problem. can anyone advise?
Is it definitely the same bulb for both reading and interior light functions? Mine are separate.
It's common for the interior light function to have three positions - on all the time, off all the time and on when doors open...there's a way to switch between them, usually up by the interior light itself.
yes, there is only one bulb. when it is set to the 'door' position it doesn't work but when its set to the 'reading' position it doesn't. we are now thinking the switch is faulty which we will have to get a whole new light unit as the switch can't be bought seperately :(
my thoughts exactly. they told me they would have to see the car first but they are a 30 mile round trip so i wanted to see if anyone had thoughts before i went there. they can't tell me over the phone if the switch is covered by warranty or not…….
Just saw your other thread... Two on same subject...very confusing...
However, it's a strange warranty that doesn't cover a one-year old car for a faulty switch and the cost of investigating the fault!
Check the N/S +OFF/S door Forward pillers, ( The ones that run down from the Widscreen) the Push in interior light plunger switch is 1/2 down the piller, there should be one screw holding it in place, remove check the rear wire & replace on the N/S + OFF / S Front or the 4 doors if any.
