Tiptronic is generally a term used by Audi for an automatic gearbox that you can also use to change gear manually.  (Normally by pushing the "gear lever" to the right and then pushing up for up a gear and down for down a gear).

I have a Corsa which has Tipotronic.

As letholohica states its a auto gearbox but can be driven manually  there is no clutch. I was told most auto's would have them in cause its cheaper. Traditional auto gear box costs around GBP 1200, Tipotronics cost approx GBP 350.

I cant see the point really of making a gear box auto and manual I just always drive my car in Auto mode and seems ok...touch wood .
