I haven't been out in the car since Saturday lunchtime but had to move it back from in front of the garage earlier today, for the SOCOs to come to look at the garage (Another story!)

I went out earlier to move the car back but it would not start and I gave up.

I have just been out and tried again and it reluctantly started after some considerable time. Is it 'damp' or something?

If it won't start in the morning, then yes phone the AA seeing has you have homestart. They will start your car, then they will most likely tell you to take it out for a good run or try and flog you a new battery !.

Tony dashes to the post office to put one of his battery chargers in the post to Yilly.

What do I do if it won't start tomorrow? Call the AA? We do have HomeStart cover. Will they charge it up for me?

Yilly, if you keep your car outside on the drive ( and not using it very much ) it may pay you to get one of these in the link.

Thanks again, Yont. I'll investigate that.
One of those solar powered trickle chargers will keep you battery charged up, Yilly.

So you plug it into the cigarette lighter socket and it keeps it charged up? I think even I might manage to do that. Got to get the battery charged up first, though.
You do have to put the connectors on to your battery though, Yilly.
It's ok, it's a simple job.

Will I have to leave the bonnet up, then?
No.
Question Author
o.k. You getting cross with me now, Yont?
LOL, of course not, Yilly. how could I get cross with you.
When you start a car an extra amount of fuel is injected into the cylinders. If you don't burn this off by running the car it stays in the cylinders & acts as a solvent, this removes the oil on the cylinder walls leading to low compression in the cylinders...hence the car not starting. This was told to me an RAC man who came to assist me with a similar problem.
Question Author
Thank you, carrust. Now I know what the problem is.
Hi. If it is only two years old I would contact the dealer and let them sort it out, must still be under warranty? Batteries these days should last longer than 2 years. Good Luck.
