Do you know which wheel bearing it is?  There are 6 wheel bearings on a Rover 200 (both front inner & outer, and both rear).  It will depend on which it is to determine the cost.  If it's the rear then they're pretty easy to replace.  If it's the front then it's quite a long job and would be fairly expensive.

Also, what's making you think that the wheel bearing is gone?

when driving here is a whining/droning noise from the front passenger side it is still there when freewheeling with the clutch in its not been checked but i have been told its the wheelbearing

Does it go quiet when you turn one direction? (and noisy in opposite direction)

It seems to do it all the time.
In that case it might be worth jacking up each wheel and checking for rumbling - it could actually be a rear wheel bearing since it's going all the time (it can be quite difficult to hear which one it is in the car).  If it is a front one then have it seen to straight away because for it to be noisy all the time it must be very bad.
