Help Needed With New Car Choice Please

I am planning to trade in my Perodua Myvi this year.
I am torn between

Can't ask hub (Alzheimers) Won't ask garage (They will push theirs.)

Any advice welcomed.

I would take the VW everytime
Prefer German standards to Indian
(Tata Motors Limited is the largest manufacturer in Indian automotive industry.) They own MG

it appears the Chinese (SAIC) Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation own them nowadays

The VW isn't German either...it's built in the Czech Republic on a production line that makes the virtually identical Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii.
The Citigo is cheaper and (really) the same car. And Skoda dealers are FAR better than VW.

Blimey, a positive minefield.
I always bought Diahatsu, until the exchange rate got ridiculously high, hence the Perodua the last 3 years.
In 3 years, I have only just done 11000 miles, which is why I was looking at the VW, I think it's only 1 litre.
Does that mean you don't pay car tax on it?

I'm not exactly answering your question, but I bought a Honda Jazz last year and Ilove it. I'm 73, and I feel like a 'real cool chick' in it!! It drives beautifully. Don't know what your finances are like, but I did equity release and have never regretted the purchase.

I will have a good read through the links provided, when it's a bit quieter here.
I wish I had never given up the Sirion , but hey ho.
I like the height of the Myvi, and the fact there is loads of space inside. (OH is a foot taller than me)
Will keep popping back to the thread for any others idea, thanks so far.

I had Diahatsus for 22 years, I was lead to believe my Myvi was a Diahatsu Sirion lookie likey.(made by Toyota in Malaya, from the same parts and tooling Diahatsu used.)
So, I am not anti Japanese cars, (apart from the little sardine tin my sis has).
A Nissan would be of no use to Mr F, as not only is he well over 6ft, but he is disabled too.
I think it needs to be a five door, I take a couple of ladies to crafts each week, one is almost 80, so can't see her scrabbling about in a 3 door.
Running costs are quite important now, with the shocking price of petrol. I think it's time I actually went and looked at a few 'in the flesh'.
I think the MG is out now, but I will pop to the Skoda dealer.
If anyone has any more ideas, I'll be back. Thanks.

Sorry but after reading all the thread there is only one choice. The Dacia Sandero. Huge compared to the others. 5 doors and made by Renault/Nissan. From Renault dealers. The well specced Ambience model is only £6.5k.
We have one and there is nothing not to like.
