Ive just traded my old caravan in and bought a new hobby tourer only to find that the campsite I was booked onto does not accomodate hobby vans and has cancelled my booking. Is this a common problem and will I be able to tour in my hobby around the UK. I feel absolutely distraught as I have spent all my savings on this new van and now feel I'll not be able to use it. I was so happy yesterday with my new caravan but now Im so upset. Please has anybody any advice or know of campsites which accept hobby vans. Thankyou

Thanks very much Kempie, Ive just visited the site and feel much better. Been in tears on and off all day but feel better now thanks again, Esther
i've just looked at the site, what is the problem? seems like any other caravan to me. why do certain sites have a problem?

I think the problem is the association with the travelling community, although the camp site said it was the size of the caravan. However my old caravan was only 30cm smaller and there are many caravans on the market which are the same size or bigger than Hobbys.
Hi Esther

We are considering the purchase of a Hobby and have heard about issues regarding access to sites. I have tried to subscribe to the Hobby Owners Club site but they seem to be experiencing some problems (or it could just be me!). What did they have to say on the subject?

Thanking you in anticipation

Hello Istur, Ive been doing some investigating myself and it seems that a lot of sites will accept Hobby caravans. Ive also spoke to a few owners and they seem not to have any problems. Keep trying to get on the Hobby owners site though as it will put your mind at ease (they all must be going somewhere!). I think you should go ahead with your purchase as the caravan I purchased is far superior to all the other caravans weve owned and for a fraction of the cost. Hope this has been of some help. Esther
Thanks Esther.

I did manage to get onto the site eventually and it was pretty good. Also bought Practical Caravan and there was a letter on this subject which also helped. Sadly the caravan we were looking at has since been sold but we'll keep looking.
