it seems to vary but I'd say that they'll offer a fixed pen as long he doesn't mess the NIP about, 3 pts and whatever the fine is now, £60 I think.
Have a look at this site, there is a speeding fine calculator and points calculator as it can depend on previous record and how much over the limit. http://www.speedingfinesuk.co.uk/speeding_fines_penalties.htmn

So sorry to hear that. The force should be out catching some real criminals instead of petty things like this. I think that would be the traffic branch as they've nothing better to do than issue speeding tickets.
oh I almost forgot the motoring puritans will be along in a minute to verbally flagulate you and your other half!

it was an unmarked BMW but no excuses got caught take it on the chin!
With a bit of luck she may get the chance of a speeding awareness course, and then no points, bernie.

TTT to be expected water off a ducks back to me m8
sadly they only seem to offer the speed awareness courses for those just over 30 in a 30.
Question Author
yes tone i think that may be the case but do you still pay the fine?
I didn't know that, TTT.
The fine is no longer £60 for speeding. Sadly I was flashed and was offered 3 points plus £100 fine.

This was for 40 mph in a 30 mph area.

The Traffic Taliban strikes again, bad luck m8,
could have been me at least twice today,
hopefully be offered a course!
Yes you do still have to pay the fine, bernie.
Jonny; "real criminals"....like those who break the law?
If you drove down the M23 at 92mph, you'd have someone in your rear view mirror, flashing at you to get out of their way.

It's like a race track coming down here from London.

If you come to Brighton round the M25, everyone is stunned at how you turn off the crawling M25, and the cars all suddenly blast off into the distance.

If you drove at 70mph, you'd be causing an obstruction.
The course is more expensive than the fine, anyway.
Course upper limits is 10%+6mph over the speed limit

http://www.acpo.police.uk/documents/uniformed/2010/201004UNSAC01.pdf

so that's 83 on a motorway - so they won't offer a course

40 is therefore the highest in a 30 SirOracle

Can be offered on any category of road apart from a 20mph limit
There should be the offer of a fixed penalty (which, as has been said, is now £100 and three points).

The Association of Chief Police Officers issues guidance to fixed penalty offices which suggest where a fixed penalty is appropriate and where a summons is normallys issued. In a 70mph limit speeds above 95mph usually result in a summons.
The total irresponsibility shown by some of the "drivers" replies is symptomatic of far tooay. many on the road tod
