Man drives car up ramp to top of the car transporter. How the ecky pecky does he get down?

Climbs down the ladder built in to the side of the trailer, just behind the 1st stancion.

By opening the car door and stepping out (very carefully) onto the edge of the ramp and then walking down it.

I spent 2½ years working as a 'trade plater', delivering and collecting cars from major depots. I watched many transporter drivers going about there work and was often amazed by how they did it. Getting down the ramp is the easy bit. Adjusting the decks, to fit the maximum number of cars into a finite space, is far trickier. It's easy to end up crushing the roof of a car on the lower deck if you're not careful (and I've seen it done more than once!).

Aha!

Nibble is assuming that the upper deck has been elevated before the driver exits the vehicle. (In which case he is, of course, correct). I've assumed that the upper deck has been loaded first and then elevated (as I've seen done many times).

Seen a couple of platers forgetting to apply handbrakes on the first car with the obvious issue, but it was fun watching.

Don't mention mistakes with trains to me, Craft! I'm the guy who managed to lose one! (It was there on Platform 1 when the line was temporarily closed but it had disappeared when I made a PA announcement later, asking passengers to board it!)

LOL Chris even I've never managed that. I remember when my mate and I were going to the south of France by motorail from Calais to Narbonne. After a very brief discussion we decided to let the motorail guy drive her car onto the top of the car transporter..........
