I wonder why, when you are travelling at the proper speed limit, have given a perfectly good, long signal, having carefully checked the road behind, that these impatient, self important, arrogant nobs come flying up behind you, flashing and generally trying to intimidate you out of the way?
Does it not occur to these thick people that the REASON they are behind a 'slower' driver, is because THEY are breaking the speed limit, and have put themselves into that position by SPEEDING.

Does anyone know how their brains work, or indeed, if they even have any?

I drive a Beemer, a 320, I also drive a Octavia VRS estate which is quicker, what amuses me is the number of drivers in ordinary family saloons who must overtake you at all costs because of what you're driving then slow down to their cars comfort zone speed again!

Svejk, just seen your post, credit me with some sense, if I were coming up on other traffic I would be at, or close to, the road limit.
Baza - that is just the attitude that can cause frustration amongst (entirely legal) drivers who wish to overtake you in a safe manner.

If your speedo says 70 but you are actually doing 60, then who is causing the problems?

Does baza and Ludwig's suggestions not amount to Careless Driving or similar?
What about mine, Baldric?

Examples of driving without reasonable consideration include:
(a) Driving too slow or braking unnecessarily

Chrissa, I'd have laughed too!

I don't think so. When you've got a tailgating idiot behind you, the safe course of action is to slow down and not be intimidated into speeding yourself or making any sudden or dangerous manouevres simply to get the idiot out of your rear view mirror.
Balders - have you got the petrol VRS?

Do you think they could squeeze it into the Yeti - I'd buy one :+)

SD, yes petrol power
The Yeti is good fun with 170,
with 220 it would be a hoot!!!!

It's the slowing down bit I'm thinking of, if you're driving legally, Why?
I would find that aggressive behaviour tbh.
But which is better, the Octavia or the Yeti?..eeny meeny miney mo.....on second thoughts better not go there.
That puts the 103 I've got in my Golf estate to shame....... although it does have good pick up at 60 in third...........

PS, I'm not a tailgater!
I don't do diesel though - the top petrol Yeti is (I think) the 160 TSi which might be a bit pedestrian after my Saab Aero :(
Anyone tried a Merc C63 AMG? I had to deliver one to our regional office - 6.3V8, 457 bhp 0-losing licence 5 seconds! I was very light on right foot for the whole of the journey!!
Don't you just love a good 'I'm the best driver thread'
ps.

I'm a very patient tailgater.

I win!
Let me try to explain the thought process. I'm overtaking a row of middle-lane hoggers at 75mph in lane 3. My speedo says 75 but I know that my true speed will be less as speedos are set to over- rather than under-read your speed. I also know that if I'm actually doing 75 then I am very unlikely to get done for it. Rightly or wrongly, that is what I am thinking.

Just as I am about to pass a particular car in the middle lane, the driver looks in the mirror (or not), sees me travelling faster than they are but decides to pull in front of me anyway, forcing me to slow down. They then proceed to overtake 5 cars at 69.9 mph (according to their speedo, but in reality probably closer to 65) without taking the opportunity to move over to let me pass them until there is at least half a mile of space in the middle lane for them to use.

That's why 'speeders' get frustrated.

Who's said that then Roy?
