fiesta won't start

I have a 1994 fiesta that won't start. When I turned the key, I heard a clicking noise and the dashboard lights flickered. When I tried to start the car the following day, the battery was flat. I recharged the battery and the car started. I drove around the block OK, but later I was back to the clicking noise.

Is this the battery or the starter motor?

Sounds like the battery isn't charging enough. If your charger has a meter on it check the volts. If not new battery (won't cost much and you can fit it yourself)

I agree with Ward-Minter. Sounds like the battery isn't holding the charge. If you don't want to get your hands dirty most places will fit the battery free for you - Halfords do for example. And don't forget to cover the terminals with vaseline to prevent corrosion.

Thanks Ward-Minter & derekpara,

Bought a new battery for 25. Car starting well.

 Thanks for your answers.

I hope your new battery has sorted your problem.  If not then you need to have your charging circuit checked, it's possible that your alternator is faulty or fan belt is slipping.  It depends on how long your newly aquired, fully charged battery lasts.

Good luck.

When the battery is flat it will cause the solenoid to make the clicking noise - flat battery is more common
