I Need A 2Nd Hand Car

£1000 £2000 petrol manual runaround, to use a couple of times a week on the whole, 10 or less years. Low mileage as poss. Not a Fiat, I've had a lot of Nissan ones in the past, any ideas ?

Good Morning Tamaris, to start, make sure you get the best price for your old Fiat around £150 should be about right, regards your purchase of a 2nd hand car, do yourself a favour! if you see one you fancy, for your own safety even if it costs you £30 to get someone to check it for you, get some one that knows a bit about cars, £1000 / £2000 does not get you lot today believe me, do not bye from the side of the road as there is no Come Back after the Purchase, look around a dealer's garage & ask about their Trade in's, at times you can pick up a good one but again "It may be" bought as seen that way there is no COME BACK on the garage, I wish you well with your search but do not rush the purchase, I heard too many
people say " I wish I would have waited ( Don't be one of them.)

Any friends , neighbours or relatives selling a car or trading one in?
I have always had old cars 10 years or more old and several owners. But nearly all of them have been bought from people I know so that I knew the car as well.

A mechanic friend of mine has told me in the past week that Honda cars are the best value, reliable and trustworthy, thats according to his daily dealings, repairing, etc with cars over many years.

My advice would be to search Auto-trader and look at models that are not popular and therefore cheaper than they otherwise would be. Even if parting with £1,000 - £2,000 ensure that the vehicle has a long MOT, then at least you won’t worry about that for a while.

lol yes, and German cars aren't bound by motorway speed limits...

I have to say I've had my little Peugeot for 10 years or so and it's been great. But you'll probably be needing more up-to-date advice unless you want a 20th-century car like mine.
