I live on a Housing Estate, I put in a drive many years ago the road is very busy at time's, opp there is a person that parks his van directly across from my Drive, I never ever Drive into my drive way but reverse, If my car was hit as I reverse in would I be able to claim from him? the front end of my car has come close a few time of getting hit as I reverse in, I have often thought about this. tia

Your car wouldn't be hit, you would be hitting the the van.
Since you would be hitting his vehicle...he would be claiming off you.

The van is Parked up, it's the moving traffic I'm on about Sherrardk
If you are reversing safely and another car strikes you, it has nothing to do with the van owner.
....still, nothing to do with the van owner, is it?

In fairness to TWR I don't think he means hitting the Van, I think it's the passing traffic being pushed to his side of the road by the van being parked opposite, hitting him that he means!
Yes he has clarified but I still don't see how his Insurance could claim against the van owner.
An insurance claim would be between you and any vehicle that hit you. As long as the van was parked it would not be part of the claim.
I can see your point TWR, as the parked van would have been a contributory factor in the incident. I don't think the insurance companies would pursue a claim through the van insurer though.
The van owner would have had to have been aware that his parking was likely to cause an accident. Then he 'could' be seen as negligent.
as long as the van is parked legally on the highway, I can't see that there would be any case against the van owner.

My next door neighbour parks her car just forward than the dropped kerb on my side, the van driver parks on the pavement opp, the next door (Down) neighbour parks his car forward than his driver thus causing the road width to be reduced, so we now have a car to my left / right of my drive & the van opp side, what's your conclusion?

To Add, I always reverse into my drive, hence the front end of my car moving out towards this van, if you understand what I mean?
I can see that some more thought and consideration needs to be given by all who park on the road in order to prevent causing neighbours difficulties like yours.

Have you thought of getting everyone together for a friendly chat?

Had a word with the van driver long ago Mam, talk to the wall, I said to him at that time, if my car was ever damaged due to the van, I would sue. this post was a query.
I was afraid that was going to be your response and it's sad - however I still feel that you would be very hard pressed to be able to sue him.

Why can't neighbours get along ?
well that was a nice friendly chat then!

Talk about neighbours Mam, a few years ago I dug out my Side of the house Garden to put construct my drive, my mates wife that lived next door was always nasty with me for some reason, when the drive was completed things went on, my mates wife started work with a local taxi firm, this particular day she parked across my drive so I asked her to move the car to this she said something like uck off!!! so I asked twice again, again she said Uck off, it was then that I threatened the police presence, she then moved, a very long while after that they parted and moved away, this day she called at my house as she had a problem with her car ( the cheek of the woman) I had to go into my diary as I have a bad memory, I came across the word I did not understand "Uck off" but I found the true meaning of the word and was spelt F.........CK off, so I said to her on reflection to the words used by you, to me on that day when I asked you to move your taxi, she got into her car, slammed the door & Ucked Off, KI thought that was strange, but there, life goes on.
