Citroen Grande Picasso, we carry three wolfhounds in it with room for four with the seats flat, or a Citroen Berlingo, great vehicle, the only down side is the rear windows dont open far enough.
We chose the Grande Picasso, because when all the seats are folded flat there is loads of room and nowhere for heavy dogs to trap their feet, also quite low for them to get in and out.
The problem with many 4X4s is they are mostly built quite high up, this isnt good for giant breeds of dog as they can damage themselves jumping in and out of high vehicles.
Ok Ratter - only suggested 4x4 because my neighbours South african ridgebacks seem to manage ok with his Mitsubishi L200 but take your point lower the better
I don't believe the Danish have any special requirements so I'd say any standard saloon would be fine but if you want a truly "great" car to carry a Dane then get a top of the range 7 series beemer.
