My 1527cc Pug 106 has a lot of air in the fuel pipe. I noticed it a couple of weeks ago. I didn't go into why. Now however, the car takes a bit longer to start ( it was always almost instant, after waiting for the glow plug light to go out of course ), and it's very lumpy for 30 seconds or so. I did as suggested in the Haynes manual, i.e. open the bleed valve and pump the primer. Only one air bubble came out. Nothing has been disrupted, nothing undone or taken apart.
The car gets an 16 mile run every week day. I don't want to get rid of it as it's so so good on fuel. It's done 147,000 miles.

I think you have a Glow Plug Down Rob, another cause with these, lift up the back seat you should see the Fuel Sender large Black Screw Cap, under that cap is a seal, these do become soft, the seal is about £3 on ebay.

Spot on TWR. It was a duff glow plug. Now runs as normal despite the air in the fuel line. However, I have ordered a new seal. Thanks !

Regards that Seal Rob, they can be a sod to replace, make a note when you remove, you will have to remove the Fuel Feed pipes to replace, that is easy enough to do, if you are still getting air in the System, replace the Derv Filter, If you do this fill the derv filter before you replace, then on replacement bleed until the fuel is clear.
