Dual Mass Flywheels. What is causing them to fail? Driving style, stop start driving, prolonged idle, mileage related?

My understanding is that the ‘glue’ bonding the two flywheel disks gives up. I’m not familiar enough with the technology to know whether this is due to thermal effects (heating/cooling cycles), physical stresses, or both.
I would put this down to poor Quality material Manta, one example, the coil suspension springs, I have never known springs to snap the way they do, years gone by they used to last the life of the car.
Inferior quality recycled steel, coupled with very poor driving habits..maybe it's time for composite materials, but then at what cost.

Always amused at those who diss recycled steel. Why would it be inferior to new steel which is of course made from what is essentially dirt?

Modern cars are built closer to the limits of the materials.
well if you found a way of making steel out of dirt beso, you're a bazzillionaire!
