No, but very nearly. I hate motorway driving on my own because it just makes me want to sleep. I always have to pull in and have a walk about.
My uncle was the chief driving sleeper. The stories of him falling asleep at the wheel are really funny....but thankfully he's never caused an accident. He doesn't do the driving anymore!
Yes nearly killed the wife and son. We had been to Turkey and arrived back at Gatwick at about 9:30 on a Sunday night for a drive back to S Wales I estimated we would be home about 1. But we were held up by road works on M25 and M4 The last I can remember is looking up at the Celtic Manor hotel in Newport, before going through the tunnels. The next thing I knew was my wife punching me shouting where are you going, as I drove down a row of cones that separated the west and eastbound carriageways at that time for service vehicles. luckily I swerved back to the left before hitting the start of the Armco
No but i still have the scars from falling asleep on a motorbike. I was on the A5 travelling home and just woke up to see the concrete triangle you get on slip roads coming at me. I saw it but couldn't do anything. I really burnt the inside of my thigh on the exhaust because of how I landed.
Always stop for naps now :(
Just once, around 1.00am in the morning on the M42, lots of roadworks and average speed cameras, the blur of the ballads and flashing lights were mesmerising and i started to think about beds of all things, seconds later I was driving through the ballads !! Luckily it was just seconds!! Awful experience but it was way past my bedtime ! Not much on the road either !
