Not so much a 'fear off' but being much more aware of HGV.

Only when they turn up at work, that means work for us !.

If you are within the sight of the drivers Passenger Side Mirror Puss, you will not have any problems, also if the HGV Has it's left hand indicator on & he / she is going for the middle of the road, that HGV is turning left, always keep back.
no fear, which is a good thing as I live near a huge container terminal. I keep a close eye on them though and make sure that I can see the wing mirror at all times and keep a decent space if I am following.

There's a lot of nutters as you put it driving cars you know.

Quite agree, but it's the ones in HGV's your question refers to.

Suffolk Woolf ?
Fear not at all but I'm very aware of them on M-Ways as they often just pull out of their lane without much heed to what's coming up in their wing mirrors.

I'm not sticking up for some of them Prudie, if they are indicating ready to pull out & the Middle lane driver is not making progress, this in-turn start to loose the 40tonn's HGV Revs that takes a while to get back up again, that's the main reason.
Never did creep up beside them twr, always kept to the back, and was aware that they could always turn left and crush me to a pulp.

///Revs that takes a while to get back up again, that's the main reason.///

So next time one pulls out in front of me that makes it ok then?

It is still Dangerous Driving in my book!
No, but I am very aware of them. The ones I keep well away from are the foreign HGV's, because if you're overtaking them, they can't see you.
A friend of mine has second thoughts every time he overtakes a HGV.
Having just been promoted at work the new job came with a choice of cars up to £50k.
His choice was a large Black Merc. He got the train down from Birmingham and picked it up in London and was soon heading back up the M1.
Proud as punch with this brand new car he had only had for 1 hour.
He couldn't wait to get home and show his new pride and joy off to the neighbours !.
He was travelling in the fast lane passing a HGV (in the middle lane) when the lorry just started to move across into his lane. Being almost level with the cab in the HGV he accelerated to try to avoid a collision, but the front of the lorry caught the tail end of his car and flipped him round so as he was left straddled across the front of the lorry side on .. the lorry was doing 70mph and carried on up against the barrier on the central reservation for some distance. The driver had fallen asleep, even though he had woken up with the bang, he still wasn't aware of my mate underneath the front of the tractor unit being pushed along the road sideways. Other drivers brought it to his notice... nobody was hurt, but there was a strong smell in the Merc.

A week later he got another new black Merc .... delivered to his home address this time !

HGV doing 70???? If drivers kept to a sensible speed, the HGV would have time to see the speeder approaching.
The HGV driver wouldn't have seen anything coming .. he was sleeping.
Not fear but caution - seen too many private cars squashed to the side of the road as trucks hurry to catch their timed ferries :-(

You stated the HGV was doing 70 Alava, if that was the case, when that taco / card was checked the driver could be suspended when the card / Taco was checked.
Question Author
You will see that a lot down your area Boxy.
Only when I'm driving one
No, not really...although cautious at overtaking them on motorways and dual carriageways in bad weather, especially.
HGV's? no,
Post vans, Asda Vans, UPS vans, and Ocado vans - YES! They drive like the clappers!

Like Slack, I'm definitely more aware of HGV's and don't trust them as their view can be limited (was nearly squished by one whom changed lanes into me - luckily I was 'aware' that he had been a tad erratic on the road for a few minutes and was coming in, so jammed on the brakes as there was a concrete bridge barrier to the left - a very near miss)
I always give HGV's room when they are at roundabouts and am never ceased to be amazed at the amount of people who tailgate them or don't realise how big their turning circle will be!

I remember my driving instructor many moons ago saying: 'It's not your driving that you have to be afraid of, it's others....' - very true
