Dla/free Car Tax

hi guys not sure what section to use but here goes. a friend has just told me he's been awarded dla or pip, and has aked me to ask anyone in the know about using the free car tax entitlement. he has 2 vehicles, one small hatchback car and an older transit van.due to his problems he says its easier for him to get in andout of the transit as he climbs n and slides out rather than fall in and struggle to get out, the 2 questions he has can he use the tax voucher for the van or would they class it as commercial and also £220 as opposed to £30 for the car? and both vehicles were taxed at begining of July, can he claim tax back and start again or does he have to wait untill next july?

He can use it for any vehicle and he can get his van transferred to Disabled Class now and reclaim any remaining full months of tax

i don't think you can backdate it because you don't get free tax as such, but you change the class of the vehicle so now it's exempt from tax
