Fiesta 1.1 Key Problem

I have just bought a 2nd hand Fiesta and was given 3 keys, 1 red, 1 black with a red spot and a small black one. I've been told that I should try not to use the red key and to keep it safe. However, the black key is not turning at all. Does anyone know what I need to do to sort this out?

i heard somewhere that this is because the red key was only meant to be used as a master when getting new keys cut - as if you wear them both out its a new set of locks !.

I would follow this and go for getting one cut for about �6

If you loose the red key it will cost far more to program in new transponders.

Find a proper auto locksmith who can cut a key to code rather than copying your worn one. Sometimes they can swap the chip from a broken key into a new one to save on reprogramming.

Sounds like the black key may be for a different car or petrol cap only?

The red key can be used - and it can also program new keys with a red flash.

The key without the flash can open doors - but will not start the car.

It is fairly east to program a new key (with a red flash) if you have a red key - but if you loose the red key it is expensive to replace.

A good automotive locksmith can read the key number to get a new key cut by looking at the old key

Any problems getting the key code then send a photo of the key taken sideways on to me at [email protected] and I will read the key for you if I can. You can then take the key code to a ford dealer and they can cut a new key for you
