I drove my car 10 miles today, stopped at a shop and the radiator fan came on for about 5 minutes after I had switched the engine off.
This happened another twice times... is this normal ?
I know radiator fans are meant to come during the summer time but winter time ?

Any help greatly appreciated before I go to a garage.

Yes its normal. If the car is stationary and the coolant is hot the only method of cooling it, is for the fan to cut in, until the temperature drops.
Please forgive me if I'm teaching Granny to suck eggs but you have checked the coolant level when the engine is cold? Lack of coolant would cause the fan to operate more often.
Radiator fans aren't meant to come on in the summer time, they're meant to come on whenever the engine needs cooling. This can mean in slow-moving traffic at any time of the year - steady forward movement is usually enough to keep them off but reversing can often cause them to cut in as the air-flow over the radiator is reduced. They frequently come on when you park as there is often an amount of slow manoevering involved.
The time to worry is when it doesn't come on when it should (I've been there).
it will come on if the air con is switched on.
check to see if the little orange air con light is on.
