Wider Tyres On A Racing Bike

Can modern racing bike wheels support wider (more comfortable) tyres without having to replace both wheels and tyres?

They are normally very tight on construction so I`d say no. Wouldnt having wider tyres mean more resistance, less speed?

I think lacmag wants to compromise a little for comfort. It isn't wider tyres so much as deeper tyres that give a softer ride. Buy some new wheels, they don't take long to change.

It totally depends, what size rims, what frame and brake clearance? Easiest to say what bike and then check specs as max tyre size should be specified.

The bike I 'have my eye on' is an almost new 57cm B'TWIN TRIBAN 500 SE.

It would appear from chit-chat on various fora that 25c's are the most you can fit so not a huge improvement over the 23s it comes with. If the originals are too harsh you could always drop the pressures slightly.
