i was driving down the road and my car just died!! it will turn over but wont start any ideas on the problem??

Probably, the most common cause of a car 'just dying' is a fuel pump failure. If the car's not got electronic ignition, the quickest way to check is to remove a spark plug. If there's petrol around it, then the fuel's getting through - but, if the plug's dry, then the fuel pump must be suspect.

When you first switch on the ignition, can you hear a "buzzing" sound from the fuel tank? if not possible fuel pump or inertia switch( fuel cut off switch).

If you remove the oil filler cap & get someone to try & start the engine, can you see the camshaft turning. if not possible cambelt failure.

thanks guys for your help had a garage look at my mondoe and yes its the fuel filter and the cam belt so unfortunatly it is goin to car park heaven!!!!
