I need to pay for the Dartford crossing. it appears that you now have to set up an account and the minimum is £10. What happens if you only want to make two journeys - ie £5

ww.payzone.co.uk/Where.
You can pay in cash, see above link
you don't have to set up an account, there is a one off option, I used it myself a few weeks ago: https://www.dartford-crossing-charge.service.gov.uk/PayforCrossing/PayforCrossing
Question Author
Thank you both - you have to load your account with £10 - but I may not use this amount It is £2.50 per crossing
Question Author
Thank you TTT
If you have an account the price of the crossing is cheaper, not £2.50
Question Author
Thank you jamesnan - I haven't seen a cheaper option other than for residents and when you set up an account you have to 'load' it with £10 or that's what the site seems to indicate
yes but you do not have to set up an account, you pay for a one off, I did it a few weeks ago. Read the site carefully.

Phwww I must be getting daft in my old age - done it booked 3 journeys, Yes
jamesnan sorry - if you set up an account you save a third on each journey Thank you TTT
That's odd, I set up an account last year but have never used it, and I didn't have to pay anything.

I have just checked, and I still have the account with a zero balance.
i paid for 2 crossings upfront a while ago, making the journey a week or two later. when i went to prepay for another 2 crossings recently, i found i was still in credit by £2.50 from the previous occasion - presumably the ANPR system is a bit hit 'n miss....... :-)
Do Blackwall its not much of a detour - or go over before 6 and after 10. I came over a few days ago and was amazed at the number of people doing 50ish on the M2 so they arrived at the tunnel after 10.
CAC, how much more fuel do you burn driving to the Blackwell Tunnel? That is also plagued by queues, particularly northbound.
I used the Blackwall a couple of weeks ago, late Monday afternoon and it was OK but I then realised that the Woolwich Ferry takes cars, I thought it was only foot passengers, I'd been to City Airport so I was almost there. Does anyone use the Woolwich Ferry and how does it seem?
The Blackwall is quite possibly less distance for us as it cuts the corner to the M11 - obviously not at peak times though.
