Having a look at accidents on F.B. how these so-called HGV Drivers Slam in the back of cars is just unreal, their licence ( HGV ) should be taken off them for a couple of years.

Sorry for the delay Baldric, it was something i'd seen on F.B. it was the HGV Side of the site, It's unbelievable to see some of these clowns drive, in my years of driving I have never come unstuck, a lot seen to drive to the end of their windscreen.

I drive over a 10 mile or so section of the M1 to and from work each day.

I’m a lazy driver, I get into the 3rd lane and at 70mph (or more) leave a gap of around 1½ seconds to the vehicle in front.

I would estimate that over 90% of the other drivers around me leave a gap of around 2 car lengths between them and the vehicle in front.

It must be quite an exciting drive for these people, knowing that at any moment they could be crashing at 70mph.

I’m not recommending others adopt my driving style, otherwise we will need to more than double the motorway capacity.

Keep driving with that gap in Mind Hymie, you will not go wrong.

I base my gap on a minimum of two seconds, double that in wet weather. At 70MPH, you are travelling at 103 feet per second. If something spins out of control in front of you. 1.5 seconds is not a big enough gap. I used to use the motorways five days a week and the standard of driving is appalling. There needs to be far much more lane discipline enforced by the police.
