Absolutely agree. Would have been much easier (and caused far less trouble for the locals) if it had been done when it first started about 25 years ago. Instead, the French decided to accommodate their invaders and the first proper camp (at Sangatte) unsurprisingly proved a huge magnet for more illegal migrants. The French have themselves to blame for the current fiasco which they will find very difficult to cure.

The French of course allowed the "refugees" to congregate in numbers in these locations, slyly and fully expecting that they were helping them on their way to the UK. We as usual were either too slow to spot the duplicity or had people in charge( you know who I mean) and did not react with any alacrity. Now of course the French are adamant ( not the poncy pop star) that it was all our fault in the first place for being far to friendly. There are still people who even now refuse to smell the Schengen.
