Bulgaria-Bans-The-Burka, This Has Given Me.....
an Idea.
It is more than likely, that Muslim Women who wear the Burka in the UK, are not employed because there is not many company's, that could employ them for various reasons.
So as there are many vacancies for supermarkets, and other outlets needing filling, and not requiring professional qualified staff, why cant the Government stop Job-seekers-allowance, to those Ladies who wont remove them.
As this is not an Islamic Country yet! Why should there be a problem?

I'm not against banning the burkah but unless that happens I don't see any chance of stopping JSA for anyone who wears it. I struggle to see any logic in my opinion and it would be easy to take it off in order to get benefits. JSA claimants have to follow a procedure and be actively seeking work. The same argument could be used for stopping benefits to people with unsightly tattoos or people who dress scruffily or have BO- all things that may stop people getting jobs
I see large groups of women wearing burkas coming out of what must be little factories/workshops- in fact some places seem to employ burka wearers only. Of course some may suggest they may be claiming JSA too and I do not know whether that is the case or not- same applies to many workers who don't wear burkas I suppose
## I would imagine that the reason that burka wearing women are not employed is because their culture dictates that they don`t work. ##
But this is the UK 237, not Saudi etc!

I don't think that would be allowed FF, it would be illegal, but good for the Burka wearer, as they wouldn't knows who they are paying JSA too.!!!!

Maybe I don't see it then, because we don't have any Burka wearing people where I live.
## I hadn't realised Supermarkets were struggling to fill vacancies. ##
They are Mamya, I know, and there is also a big shortage of home carers too.

Right , so to answer part of your query 'Should ladies who claim JSA but refuse to take a job because they are Burka wearers and may not be allowed to wear it?'
Then as the rules stand, if you refuse a job that the Job centre considers suitable and fit for you then yes, they can and do stop benefits.
If you don't keep your side of the contract they can stop anyone's benfit - men or women.

So it's not a big issue for you then.
Although I saw a large group of burka wearers leaving a factory I wasn't surprised as that is the make up of that area. Incidentally I also went to the Job Centre today and didn't see anyone wearing a burka in there

1. Plenty of muslim women are employed.
2. Those that stay at home tend to be married and the husband works/is the benefit claimant. The married woman will not be claiming JSA.
3. Supermarkets do not have any problem fillling vacancies.
4. Denying benefit for reasons of dress would be clearly discriminatory, and the Government would be sued.
5. As an idea it is clearly ill thought out. Don't give up your day job.

When people stop wearing daft modes of dress, I imagine.
“What possible difference will it make if some Muslim women are banned from wearing the Burka ?”
It will encourage them to integrate into UK society instead of being separate and manifestly different.
“What business is it of yours what people wear ? “
We’ve done all this before (many times). People should not walk the streets of the UK masked up. It frightens the horses and is offensive. It is also divisive (see above) when the last thing this country needs is further divisions over and above those that already exist. There should be no open manifestations of Islam in the UK. It is a pernicious religion which has no place in Europe. Its dogma subjugates and discriminates against women and gay people and its teachings in those respects at least would not be tolerated if practised by any other group. The burka is probably the most heinous manifestation of the religion and it keeps women hidden away from the rest of the society into which they should be trying to assimilate. If they don’t want to integrate that's their decision (or possibly not, we'd never know). But in either case their future may be more satisfactorily served elsewhere.
Countries that have taken to banning the burka are simply trying to preserve their own cultures and not have them overrun by pernicious influences. There’s nothing smug or empty about it.
