6 Answers
bought new set leather look seat covers and it states they fit kia sportage, tried to remove head rests but only one side of the head rest comes off so im unable to slide the covers over.
usually all other cars you can remove head rests but this car you cant, even read the manual and it states that head rests are removable but as i say, when i push clip in and try lift headrest out of the top of the seat only one side comes out

As Ianv has stated, the head restraints cannot be removed.
They are an 'active' unit which move forward in the event of an impact. Also, as stated in the linked thread, the seats have airbags fitted which could be impeded by fitting seat covers.
At the end of the day only you can value your own safety compared to an accessory.

With so many airbags and active safety mechanisms in the modern vehicle you really need to question the fitting of any aftermarket accessory. Stick something to the top of the dashboard, glovebox lid, seats, windscreen, side pillars, etc and who knows where that item could end up in the event of airbag deployment.
