Is it only me or do people who leave their foot on the brake whilst in a big queue of traffic really annoying? Handbrakes are there for a reason. Now the mornings are getting darker don't these people realise that brake lights are very bright and really dazzle the person sitting behind. Or am I just very intolerant?
It doesnt really annoy me having brake lights in front of me. Do you have very sensitive eyes? how do you cope in moving traffic when the cars in front brake
Some new cars have them mounted higher than normal and are more likely to be in your eyeline. My dad has moaned about this too. Just depends which car you're behind I suppose.
Yes, if you are stationery for a long period of time you should put your handbrake on for safety resons but other peoples brake lights don't effect my eyes even the high level ones. I think maybe you should get your eyes checked in case their is a problem.
I've been thinking about this and if brake lights are annoying your eyes that badly, you should get them checked out and maybe stop driving in the meantime? I'm sure it could be dangerous if your reflex was to shut your eyes when the car in front brakes
Chazza, what do you take me for?, When people apply brake lights to stop then fine, no problem. Just when the car in front has his lights on for 3 mins when stuck in a traffic jam is when it gets annoying. It only really bothers me in the dark as they do glare.
Often they'll be automatic's and you have to keep your foot on the brake to stop it creeping forward. Usually at traffic lights you are there for only a short time so don't generally put it into "Park". In other traffic you are not often actually stationary so it's not practical to use the hand brake.
I'm probalbly too old for this but I was taught that you should put the handbrake on AND put the gears in neutral. The lights don't bother me but I wonder if drivers realise that sitting with their foot on the clutch is no good for the clutch itself.
Why not close yir eyes while yir waiting? When the traffic starts to move again, I'm sure the driver behind you will toot the horn as a gentle indication to travel on yir way.
I quite agree mats! its pointless and rude to leave your foot on thr brake for minutes on end whilst already stationary,if offenders of this lazy habit took the time to glance in their mirror at the red faced squinting driver of the car behind, then perhaps they wouldn,t do it!..its especially bad when you get stuck behind one of those new mercs with l.e.d.s
