Sat Nav App For Android Smart Phone
8 Answers
I need to use my android smart phone as a Sat Nav tomorrow. I'll be walking in a city centre. Can anyone recommend a simple easy to use free app please. If it makes any difference my phone is a Moto G2 android marshmallow 6.1. Thanks

As Cleggie says, Google Maps is as good as anything. ViewRanger is great for country walking though. (It's used by mountain rescue teams). Since it can work with Open Street Map, I can't see why it shouldn't also work around town:

As others have said, Google Maps is good, but Here WeGo (previously known as Nokia Here) is also very good. I have both installed because which is best depends on where you are going.

Further to Buenchico's advice about data usage: Both Google Maps and Here WeGo now allow you to download the data for selected areas in advance, which means that, provided you have enough storage on your phone, you can download it all on WiFi before leaving home, and use virtually no data when you are out and about.
