2 Stroke Generator.

It cut out after about 2hrs use this morning. It runs for about 30secs on restarting then cuts out again.
I'm thinking that there's a blockage in the carburetor. Any other ideas on the problem?

Filter Dirty, Lift Pump on the way out, Carb Jets needs blowing through, lose Connection on the Plug, Plug Oiled up, take the fuel feed Pipe off the tank, direct the flow of fuel into a container and see if it has a good flow.

twr has it.....just add that the spark plug could be knackered.

I would think if the plug was on the way out DT It would give trouble on the initial start up.

I've checked the plug and connections, they're all ok. There's a good flow of fuel to the carb. Looks like I'll have to take carb off and have a look.

Probably one of the jets clogged up.

It's always worth checking the vent hole in the filler cap is clear - if it's blocked the air can't get into the tank to replace the fuel being burnt, the fuel stops flowing and the engine cuts out.

Its been a long time since I stripped-down a carb. Mind you, it's only a cheap generator from machine mart.

Melv, you will find the float very very small on these machines also the fuel stop pin, inside the carb there should be 2 jets, as Tony Clean / Blow them through but do not use any wires, If you are a smoker blow the smoke through the jet, this unit is very small to handle and so are the internal components so be careful, spread them onto Aa A4 sheet of paper, another thing to check is the Electric stop + the cable for the accelerator, does it do it's job?
