Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has ever used diluted vinegar to have a frost free car windscreen. Would the paint work get damaged on the car? Please see link below.

Thanks

I always carry a bottle of vinegar in my car. I use it mainly for cleaning the inside of the windscreen as it prevents it misting up. (Water vapour can't adhere to glass itself. When your screen is misting up it's because the water vapour is adhering to the very thin layer of grime on it. Remove the grime and there's no misting).

However I also use it on the outside of my screen (and wiped over the wiper blades) if I seem to be getting smearing on the screen. It's also great for getting rid of squashed insects, etc. It would never occur to me to dilute it and it's never damaged the paintwork on my cars.

Hi Buenchico ,

Do you use distilled vinegar or malt or does it not matter which?

Thanks
Nisar
I just use the cheapest going. The stuff in my car at the moment is supermarket own-brand malt vinegar but I'd happily use distilled instead. (Indeed, it might possibly make my car smell a bit less like a chip shop, which is the only downside to using vinegar!)
