My daughter had been asked to be the matron of honour at an old workmate’s wedding.

She organised the hen do and has worked her butt off for this “friend”. Now she has been left at Manchester Airport because her flight was delayed and the hire car she booked, and paid for herself, is not available because they close at 10.

She rang the bride and asked if there was any possibility that a family member could pick her up and take her the 27 miles from the airport, to Blackburn. The answer was no, sorry.

Now the b&b she has booked, again at the her own expense is cheesed off because she is arriving late, through no fault of her own.

Sorry. Rant over.

Anybody else think she’s been poorly treated?

I told her when her flight was delayed by an hour and a half and that no help was forthcoming from the bride, that she should just go home . I’m fuming.

That is a shame Chrissa.

I agree, Anne but she won’t. I feel so awful for her. She’s having to get an Uber at £83!
Question Author
Just had a message from her. The Uber is going to be £100.
Yes, I do think she's been treated poorly.
That's not fair chrissa , I can understand you being upset for your daughter ( it doesn't matter what age they are ) .
Question Author
What’s so bad is that she can ill afford all this expense. The bride has offered, nothing.
I suppose the bride is up to her eyeballs with things to do but I do think she should have shown some consideration for your daughter's plight.
You have every right to fume.
It's a shame no one from the bride's family could help, especially after all her work and expense.

The b&b people are behaving badly as well, through being cheesed off because she'll be arriving late.
Personally, I would be so furious I wouldn't show up tomorrow (but my younger self would probably show up).

Tilly, they were married at a civil ceremony yesterday because he’s from, America. This is just a blessing.

When my daughter got married, I left the hen party and drove 10 miles to the railway station to pick up one of her good friends who had got the train from, Southampton.

I agree, Cloverjo. My daughter rang them and asked if there was a way she could get in without disturbing them, (a key safe etc), they tutted and said no they would just wait up for her. :0
That's the thing sherr, we wouldn't do it now,.
Sorry to get the wrong end of the stick, Chrissa. I thought the wedding was tomorrow.
Question Author
She’s now in her Uber and batted him down from £120 to £80.

God love her.. I’m fuming though.
Dreadful treatment, Chrissa after all she's done. She should have been fetched from the airport....that is so mean....

I'd be a fuming Mum too.....x
And I'd be a fuming dad.
Your daughter has been treated disgracefully, chrissa.

Thanks, gness. She could have been having a lovely weekend with her husband and young Labrador, Buddy. Instead she’s being driven to somewhere she’s never been before, it’s cost her a fortune and the bride is just expecting her to do it.
Question Author
Thanks, tonyav. I couldn’t agree more.
Old friends - who needs them. Not me -
