Potholes

Trundling most of the length of Scotland today I was playing dodge the winter pothole and I remembered seeing a report of a magical device for repairing same by heating and bonding the existing surface to the repair infill leaving a result that was to all intents and purposes now part of the original road.

Why would councils and contractors not use that technology instead of constantly revisiting the same faults to do little more than pour in a bag of tar and jump on it a few times in the vain hope that the next couple of vehicles will have things back to square one?

It can't be cost alone given the eye-watering labour charges that councils bill themselves for orange-clad slouchers to stand about smoking and chatting.

Did I only dream of this wonderous invention?

Nope. I recall it is available for the individual private motorist for his own driveways etc. I would suggest if you buy enough then Highways Scotland may subsidise your endeavours for all the pot holes you encounter. Or perhaps not.
All ways thought a pot hole was a terget for Steve Davis and Cliff Thorburn.

in Peru private citizens go round filling potholes and collecting donations from motorists stuck at the lights. More useful than cleaning windscreens.
