Emergency Vehicle?

Yesterday, at a major road junction in Manchester, I heard the sirens of what i thought would be an ambulance or police car. I pulled over but was really surprised to see a clapped out, 59 plate Mondeo, speeding through with lots of blue lights flashing. Not quite what I was expecting! Undercover cops?!!! NCA?!! What was the rush? Who knows? Retro might have an idea.

If it was speeding it couldn't of been that clapped out. Could of been a number of different reasons I can think of.

Could have been a car carrying medical personnel , eg doctor to an emergency

Not unusual for cops to use older cars, they blend in with other traffic and gives them good cover for whatever job their on. As for being clapped out, may have the appearance of being dirty, otherwise in tip top condition.

I have seen them round here too. The front blues are hidden behind the radiator grille

the EMT I asked to call, took four hours on site to decide a 74 y o with a temp of 40'C needed to be taken to hospital
