has anybody any idea how much a new throttle unit for a peugeot 406 is likely to cost & would it be easy for me to fit ?

You say throttle unit?

Do you mean the whole thing as one lump?

Or just the electronic throttle sensor? Or do you mean the idle control valve?

Also engine size, fuel type & number of valves plus the year of the 406 would help.

just scrollimg through old questions and came upon your ans

so in answer to your questions:-1800cc.R reg,16 valve,petrol

problem appears to be related to the throtttle control unit area.car will cut out at junctions ,erratic idling high reving and will not start on occasions unless i keep foot on accelerator.All these faults are intermittent and the car can go for weeks without problem then it will start playing up.If i give the throttle unit a couple of turns manually this normally sorts prob for a while.
