my first car was the above and omg it was a smooth drive - that was in 1972. I drive a Hyundai 110 at the moment and while it is nearly 10 years old, I have only done 22,000 miles.

But it is so bumpy, you feel every pebble, bump so much. What would be the equivalent today of the Hillman Avenger. Just curious,

Yep, anything with Stromberg carbs always carry some sticky tape to fix the rubber diaphragms in them as a get you home fix.
The Minx was an even crapper version. Was in direct competition with the Cortina, Viva ect.

I'm being transported back to an era scented with damp carpets, full ashtrays and sweaty bodies. :-)
my 1974 hillman avenger was fine until it rained and then i had a couple of inches of rain on the floor :-)

Trouble is, cars nowadays are designed to handle better round corners (and therefore be safer) so they’re ‘stiffer’.
