Removing stereo from Toyotal Carinae

I've just bought an H reg toyota carinae, which still has the original radio/cassette player in. Would like to replace it with my cd player from last car but can't for love of god get the old one out of carinae? Do I need to remove the panelling surrounding it? Help!

If you look at the stereo there maybe four small holes on the front fascia (at the sides). If these are present then you can buy an extraction tool from halfords or any other motor spares shop. If you insert the two tools into the stereo fascia you should then be able to extract the stereo with out too much force. Some stereos have a different style of extraction tool but you should be able to buy these as well.

If the stereo is built into the dashboard, then you may have to remove the whole thing and (usually by undoing screws). With most of the inbuilt stereos they will have occupied a larger space than a standard stereo, because of this it may ne necessary to buy an adapter that will fit into the dash and allow a standard stereo to fit.
