Yes, it was as much pilot error, due to lack of training, and a bad response from airlines to reporting of the problem that was largely at fault. After the extensive testing it has to be the safest plane to board at the moment.

Yes I would, and that assumes I would know/be bothered to find out in the first place.

With the exception of a Jumbo, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever known the plane I was flying in until I was seated and looking at the emergency card.

Good point Deskdiary, most people would not have the choice. Even if not planned on a Max, the airline could substitute on the day.

I'd rather not - Boeing hid the truth for so long that I wouldn't trust them if they said water was wet - but who gets a choice? Not that it's currently a problem.

I'd fly in one tomorrow - if I was allowed to go to the airport. In fact I'd fly in anything tomorrow. I haven't flown since last February and I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms.

That's a result then. I flew with Norwegian just the once and that was once too many. I didn't do so out of choice. My flight to the Canaries had had been cancelled at short notice and it was all I could get. The cabin crew were appalling, the aircraft was a disgrace and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a month (and mine was its first flight of the day); there was an air bridge but I had to trudge down a service staircase to the apron and board the aircraft by steps at the rear ("to speed boarding"). They got me there - and that's all I can say.

Indeed. I didn't expect dancing girls. But neither did I expect rudeness from the cabin crew. Nor did I expect to have to sit for four hours with my feet in dirty litter. Finally I didn't expect to have to schlep up and down two flights of stairs (especially with these knees) with a fifty yard trudge in the rain in between for good measure. But they did get me there.

Oh the hardship of having to walk up aircraft steps :) Budget airlines tend to be parked off stand because being on a pier costs more. That's how it works.

Even if they are parked next to an air ridge, the airport's usually charge extra if it is used.

Also it is quicker to get people seated if they are coming from both ends of the aisle.
