No disrespect to all NHS workers, but over the past year my saviour has been "white van man", (and occasionally lady). They have delivered parcels large and small, within allocated time given, and been polite and helpful. If it has been a large or awkward parcel they have placed it inside the door to make it easier for me. Thank you all white van drivers.
As a POI is it an unwritten convention that delivery vans are white, whatever logo they have on the side?

I agree, I've had nothing but good service and my regular dog food delivery man lifts the heavy bags inside for me. As an aside I drive a white van with my dogs in, so I like to think I am a White Van Fan.

no, just that a white van is easier to logo than most other colours.
Vans bring goodies, be they food and drink or treats like flowers - they bring workers to fix your leaks and doors and just sometimes you need them to cart you away.

I likes a van.
calda; what's it got to do with NHS workers? Remember that if you were taken ill it would be them who would save you, not the poor souls who work zero-hours contracts without workers' rights. None of them are heroes, they're just decent people doing decent work. Most NHS workers feel a sense of community and a satisfaction from helping the helpless, unlike those who work only to make themselves rich and resent having to pay taxes for the good of society.
Oh dear.
The black van man has been very busy the last 12 months, although collecting, more than delivering.
I don't see this as a dig at NHS workers Atheist but a jovial thread on praise of vans and all they bring and those who drive them.

This is Chatterbank.
Another thread bites the dust.

Well done TC, sleep well tonight - mind you don't lose that toothpick in your navel.
Well no one ever thanks them for their hard work. I always sleep well especially after my tots of brandy.
Sorry, Douglas and Mamy. Some people have a bee in their bonnet, I must have a hive in my beret!
Lankeela never leave your doors in the van as I read yesterday of a dog walker leaving a little dog off with its owner and burglars jumped in and stole the car with another little dog in it. Dog Thieves.
^^^doors should be dogs

Atheist I was only trying to say I realise there is no comparison to the wonderful job the NHS is doing. I was only trying to explain my own circumstances, not make judgements. Sorry you seem t have taken exception to it.
I like Enterprise Van, which is our postman!
calda, that is a nice post to make. All my white-van-drivers are very good, polite, on time and helpful. Living in the country and many miles from any decent shopping areas I rely a lot on mail order at the best of times let alone during lockdowns. I always get the same Hermes driver and he is a little ray of sunshine so he got a Christmas box this year with which he was delighted :)
My last delivery guy turned up when it was still snow on ground here, which had frozen so was so slippy. I gave him a box of Jaffa cakes!! Bizarre I know lol but it made him smile x
Love jaffa cakes, Smowball ( they ain't biscuits really know )
The biscuits debate is would you dip them in a cup of tea!! Lol
Nooo never, Smowball.
The matter of biscuit v cake was decided many years back by the courts. The reason for litigation was that biscuits are subject to VAT but cakes are not.
