What Do You Think Of The Area In Which You Live ?

This question was inspired by Nailit's "If England had an anus, then that's where I live...Stoke on Trent!"
I love my area, Hampshire is a wonderful county (although parts of the "M27 corridor" are a bit grim, but counteracted effectively by the coastline of Southampton Water). Sufficient numbers of the population are friendly and welcoming, although there are pockets of xenophobes (which amazed me when I came to the area, I assumed that with two major ports cosmopolitanism would be well accepted).

Moved to Birmingham where I felt at home from day one, but enough to be interesting, but not so huge that it loses its heart, people are friendly, and as it's in the middle of the country no where is that far away. But... Given a free choice and the funds to do it I would move to the Norfolk coast.
I enjoy the beaches October through March, the grandkids enjoy the outdoors, granddaughter riding her horse on the beach, grandson his golf lessons. Downside the crowded beaches during July and August. We stay home or visit the UK then. And while they boost the economy the behaviour of some stag and hen groups make me ashamed to be English
I absolutely love Lancashire. Although there are pockets of it which have become unrecognisable through a mixture of bad local government, mass immigration and the failed multiculturalism experiment, the majority still remains with a unique spirit I have never found anywhere else in the UK, or the world, for that matter. A commitment to hard work, a cracking sense of humour, tough and dependable, the Lancashire people are the cream of the crop. As for the countryside, it's hard to beat, and I wouldn't live anywhere else in the UK.
I'm probably naturally a city-dweller, so living in a small town (of around 5000 people) isn't ideal for me.
However Suffolk is a beautiful county, with rolling countryside and a fantastic coast. Our county town, Ipswich, is very much 'on the up' with, for example, the old docks now forming the home of both one of the newest universities in the country and countless upmarket bars and bistros. I also love the multi-cultural areas of Ipswich, where I have to think about whether to greet the proprietor of a shop of café with 'Bom dia', 'Dzień dobry' or whatever.

Burnley-by-the-canal isn't the most picturesque of places. Far from it. But it's people are warm friendly and, above all, real. Wouldn't live anywhere else.
Though if i won the Lottery, i would buy a place smack bang in the middle of Yorkshire for easy access to all the racecourses. I'd only stay there occasionally, though ;-)

London, the dumping ground of the world, shame as its got a lot going for it. Theatres, shops, bars, restaurants second to none. I was born and raised here, and have seen massive changes over my lifetime, not all good. It would be a dream to live in the countryside but money precludes that. If i won the lottery i would buy this property, and probably another on the south coast to be near family.
