All Alfa Romeo cars carry a 4 leaf clover, here's why. In the 20s Alfa had a race driver called Ugo Sivocci, talented though he was he was no match for lady luck and fate and was considered to be an unlucky driver. Plagued by mechanical issues and other problems he often did not finish a race. Worn down by all this he had a local sign writer paint a 4 leaf clover on his car. he won the 1923 Targa Florio. After that he would have a 4 leaf clover painted on the car before every race weekend. Sadly, later that year the painter did not show up for the Italian GP and Ugo crashed and died at Monza during practice. All Alfa's now carry the 4 leaf clover.

Is a four-leafed clover a symbol of good luck in Italy?
Pity it doesn't make them more reliable.
Yes I think Hopkirk may have a point!

Well they say you ain't a proper petrol head until you've owned an Alfa. I had an Alfa Sud in the 80s, TBF mechanically it was pretty good but it rusted out! I haven't had one since then, I'd have hoped they'd have improved reliability by now!
Vauxhalls have sharks in all their vehicles lord knows why but I’ve had one and dad and hubby drive them and I’m yet to find one. I’d rather have the clover!
'They' day a lot of things like British sports cars were the biz back in the day and electric vehicles are green and will save us all.

'They' are mostly wrong most of the time.
Henry Ford used to take off his hat when ever he saw an Alfa Romeo. Allegedly.
Respect for the imminently deceased?
something like that, but it was his own cars he wanted painted black.
