impossible question, i know!

i know this is an almost impossible question to ask, but id just like to get some opinions. im a girl of 17 with shortish dark hair, blue eyes, normal colour skin (although it isnt always exactly clear..) i was wondering whether people thought id suit a nose stud, or ring more? (see i said it was an impossible question!)i know it completly depends on the individual. i thought maybe stud, coz its small and i sometimes dress quite girly. but then again i didnt want it to look like another spot! do people think rings look nice? i always wondered of ppl thought it was odd to have a ring going up inside their nose...hope someone can give a good opinion! thanks

Obviously this is a personal opinion, but rings only really suit girls or guys who have a pretty 'individual' dress sense - goths, metalheads, that sort of thing.

If your appearence is more conventional, then I'd go for a stud - it sounds like it will suit your overall style more. You can get some really pretty ones - if you are worried about it ...ah ... 'blending in' ... why not go for a nice emerald colour - that should look pretty.

i had a nose stud when i was 16(25 now) kept it in till i was 22ish, then just got bored of it, it was all the rage when i got mine, dont know what the trend is now days though, you can always take it out if you dont think it looks right, mines completely healed up now.

From a male attraction viewpoint (25yrs) I'm not that keen on nose piercings at all really. I agree with Andy about rings, as rightly or wrongly they push you into a niche social culture as far as many people are concerned, be it goths of hippies etc. Studs are far more widespread and so don't have that kind of stigma.

However everyone has personal preferences and that's what makes the world interesting, so other men will like a nose piercing!

Swizz - it's just my opinion, but I don't like face piercings of any kind. Ears are okay, but not overloaded.

I always think a stud looks like a wart until you get up close, and then it still looks like a growth of some kind. And rings look like a pig. Sorry! But there are LOTS of ways to look individual and beautiful- I don't think nose rings is one of them..

I've had mine pierced for about 6 years now and dont regret it at all, im male and only wear a stud so it doesnt stand out too much, but its there and its different, as kitten_uk2 says you can always take it out.

To me it looks really horrible and I just cannot fathom how people think it looks attractive. Also sometimes you can see the fixing inside their nose poking down ..

Be different......don't have either. Nose studs look like warts and rings remind me of those bulls ( or cows? )

god so many narrow minded people out there! i have a nose stud and i am not a goth or freak, it looks lovely if i do say so myself (actually i took it out for a bit and everyone said i should put it back in).. i think there are so many nice designs out there, you could chose one to suit,,,,,, and they close up quickly and don't hurt when done...... word of advice though,, if you have a massive nose i wouldn't bother!

Well I don't know about narrow minded I have no objection to anyone having a stud anywhere they like ... just saying that to my eye and to many others I have spoken to they do not look attractive. If they do for you then way to go! Its just a matter of personal preference. Thing is ... if you don't like it in the end you are stuck with it ...

You can only try it and if it doesn't suit you you can take it out andl hopefully it will heal up properly.

I have seen some nose piercings and not usually like them on people. I think the only natural people that look OK are asians because they have been doing it for centuries.

I think they can look nice (my friend has a little diamond in hers which is very pretty) but I generally don't like 'em. One thing you need to think about is what career you are intending to go into. In some jobs a facial piercing is a complete no-no. You have to think about whether it will a problem in the sort of career you want to go into and decide whether you want to get a piercing even if you will only be able to wear it at the weekend.

Also my mate had one, and when she took it out it left a hole which now looks like a big open pore/blackhead. I don't think you can really win!

I think you should just go ahead and do it. If you don't like it then you can take it out.

Just make sure you go to a reputable place that is clean and uses a new clean needle for your piercing.
