A 'ticket' for driving in a bus lane is a 'penalty charge notice', rather than a 'fixed penalty notice':

So , do you need to report the fine for driving in a bus lane , to your insurer ?
Check what it says on your insurance paperwork. I doubt that (m)any insurers would require you to disclose these penalties but it never ceases to amaze me how many insurers depart from what you might expect.
just ask the insurer. If it doesnt affect it, great, they can tell you that.
if you should tell them you will have done so
What does their question ask?
You only have to report criminal offences, including those dealt with by a fixed penalty notice (such as speeding).

Driving in a bus lane is entirely a civil matter, which isn't (and, indeed, can't be) dealt with by a fixed penalty notice.

A penalty charge notice, which is what you received, is simply a bill from the local authority for using a bit of their road that you weren't entitled to drive on. Just as you don't need to tell your insurer about a bill you get from a garage, you don't need to tell them about a bill from the council either!
no you don't just pay the fine.(I know) .(
generally if it has an offence code then declare it. eg SP30, DR10 etc
"You only have to report criminal offences, including those dealt with by a fixed penalty notice (such as speeding)."

If a condition of providing insurance is disclosing a Penalty Charge Notice, it would have to be disclosed.

You need disclose only the information required by the insurance company, if they don't ask for it, don't tell them.
