I have bought a astra cdx 1.8 estate but does have slight steering wander and have since found that passenger front tyre is worn in the centre could this be all down to the tracking or something sinister happening here

Wear in the centre of the tread is usually down to over inflation. For best steering replace front tyres as a set.

Many thanks
hey this used to be normal practice in backstreet garages, pump the tyres up to 45psi so when you test drive the car the steering is lovely and light, even if you havent got power steering it makes the car feel easy to drive, havent heard of anybody doing this for years but obviously its still about, buy a tyre gauge from halfords,
