What does a sudden black & white warning light depicting a symbol of a steering wheel signify ?
It happened to me today 4 times on a 50 mile journey accompanied by a microsecond's feeling of lightness of the steering wheel in a lent car.

if I'd known the manual ran to 622 pages I probably wouldn't have bought my Jazz... Easier just to read War and Peace while waiting for the AA to come.

Thank you both. The link you gave looks like there might be a problem there Chris, It's an almost new car though with only 3,000 km on the clock, I have to drive it back today which is a bit of a worry.

The advice given on that page is the good old, 'switch it off (the engine) & restart it' !

I've just heard back from the Honda garage from whom I lent the car, it translates as;.............. That must have been the lane departure warning system. If you get too close to the white line, the vehicle will correct itself. (!!!!)
What a terrifyingly stupid 'improvement' to the experience of modern motoring. I'll be glad to get my old car back this afternoon

Not half as terrifying as trudling down an embankment at speed or confronting an articulated lorry head-on though.

My vehicle tells me when it thinks I need to take a rest because it reckons my driving's a bit erratic...cheek!

I have been on the point of dozing off a couple of times coming down the M6 after a tiring weekend away. Only saved by the rumble strips on the outside of lane 3!

dave, I've been behind too many vehicles (usually lorries) drifting on to the rumble strip at night. It's scary - but I don't understand how they nearly always drift to the left. Drifting to the right would be far worse

'Verschlimmbesserung', - the improvement which makes things worse, this is i.m.o. a perfect example.
