ford focus temp gauge

my temp gauge is moving from normal to high temp and back to normal again when im moving. ok when driving on the flat but when you speed up or go up hill the temp goes up. fan cutting in alot to cool the engine but have got plenty of oil and water in. garage seems to think its a faulty gauge lead but i dont think it is. any ideas guys?

Well I think you are right, it does not sound like it's the gauge at fault, overheating under increased load could be caused by fuel ratio problems or ignition timing errors but with modern engine management systems this is not so probable, Maybe you should get one of the mobile tuning companies to come and look at it, they are usually pretty good at this kind of problem.
My husband says -If you're not losing any water at all over a period of timethen get the garage to check the thermostat, Replacing the thermostat is a lot cheaper than the gauge lead. Hope this helps.
