The 20 Mph Speed Limit..............
.............is nothing new. Wales isn't the first place in this country to implement it. In 2007, Manchester City Council proposed the introduction of a traffic charging scheme whereby any vehicle entering within a 6 mile radius of the city centre would pay the relevant charge. The council held a referendum among the locals and the result was 60-40 against it, which the council duly honoured. (I must say I was surprised that 40% voted for it!) Anyway, not long after the result, without any warning or public notices, MCC introduced a 20mph speed limit on 3,000 roads and streets. They also increased the number of traffic control measures, eg, speed bumps, road narrowing, traffic islands etc as well as reducing the number of parking spaces in the city along with increases in parking fees and increased penalty fees. The motorist is the enemy folks! That7 means me and thee!

And introducing oppressive legislation to bully the public gets introduced gradually so the public gets to accept it rather than organise proper nationwide opposition. But this idea of the whole country getting stuffed is utterly beyond the Pale. Those responsible need to be slung out of office before they introduce more restrictions, and the mess they've already made reverted back to sanity.
