are there any draw backs on putting 185 rims and tyres on my car instead of the 175 s it came with ? ive allready got the spare set off my other car and seems a shame not to use them as they are a better quality than the existing ones.

Not really any problem changing from 175 to 185 except to make sure that they don't touch the body on full lock and also bear in mind that the speedo will be slightly out and show a slightly lower speed than you are actually doing.

as long as the wheel is the same overall diameter it will NOT affect the speedo reading. there is very little difference in width between 175 and 185.
