Hi AB's just tried to post a question which was uner the 4000 character limit but keeps returning an error for being over length? Any ideas? Could I try posting in 2 parts? The question was length was 3800 approx so well within 4000 limit!

did you have spaces at the end/beginning?

Hi bednobs, I did check this but no just full stop at the end and still 200 characters spare..!

I would just post half of it in the question box and put '....continued' at the end - and then post the rest in the 'answer now' box and start it with 'continued.....'.

Thanks naomi24, will do that.

Nearly did and then wasn't sure if that was against the rules!

Not as far as I'm aware.  I'm sure it will be fine.  :o)

Did you count spaces as characters? If you didn't that could explain the discrepancy.

Hi bhg481, thanks yes it counts the spaces and characters as I type as I did notice where I had double spaced in error and removed a space, the overall character count reduced. How odd! Not to worry I have now posted, albeit in 2 halves! Frustrating as edited the question so it would fit originally as one post!

Just as an aside - back in the day it seems that if a postcard had fewer than 5(?) words as greeting it could be sent at a cheaper rate. One of the scouts I went camping with discovered this and omitted all spaces from his text and got away with the cheaper rate.
