I Think I Need To Change My Car For A Newer One?

My 17 yo Citroen C1 is still going, but I don't know if I need to replace it now.  The windows are difficult to wind up/down (they're stiff and not electric, plus I have arthritis in my shoulders), the driver's door won't lock unless I open the passenger door and reach to push the knob down, the A/C is hit and miss and now I think the exhaust is going due to the familar noise it's making.  I only had a new exhaust 4 years ago.  What do you think?  I have my eye on a 3 year old Toyota Aygo, but is 3 years too old?  I'm totally lost and don't know what to do.  My mind is definitely fixed on a Toyota.  Thank you in advance.

If you're after a small car, I bought a used Hyundai i10 15 months ago, and I've been delighted with it (you'll see lots of them on the road).  Lots of miles to the gallon, cheapest insurance group and £20 yearly road tax.  

I don't do a lot of miles, so it's ideal.

Just do it! Get the newest/lowest mileage oneyou can afford with your budget.

I will be looking for another Toyota if my current RAV4 expires or becomes uneconomic.

If you buy a 3 year old Toyota Aygo, you’ll be losing at least £1,000 per year in depreciation – whereas your C1 is worth nothing (well, maybe £1,000 at most).

 

Providing the C1 is reliable, I’d save myself a grand a year and keep driving the C1 until some repair costs more than a few hundred pounds.

No one is going to steal it (if left unlocked); try spraying the lock with WD40 (lubrication might fix it), also spray WD40 on the outside of the stiff windows and wind them down and up a few times – the stiffness may be due to friction between the glass and rubber seals.

Make sure you are not insuring the C1 fully comp, after any excess deductions you are likely to get nothing if the vehicle is written off.

I have had an i10 for quite a few years and like brainiac,  I have always been very pleased with it for the same reasons as stated.
